Supporting Our Veterans: Introducing the Hunter Rehab Hub DVA Wellness Program
At Hunter Rehab Hub, we’re proud to support the health and wellbeing of local veterans through our specialised DVA Wellness Program. Designed specifically for veterans, this program focuses on helping participants manage pain, rebuild strength, improve physical function, and enhance overall quality of life. Whether you’re recovering from injury, managing pain, or looking to improve your physical wellbeing, our team is here to support you every step of the way.
Veteran-Led Care with Real Understanding
A unique aspect of our program is that it is run by Oliver, one of our physiotherapists who is also a veteran himself, having served in the Australian Army. Oliver understands first-hand the physical and mental demands military service can place on the body, as well as the challenges many veterans face when transitioning into civilian life and managing long-term health conditions. His lived experience, combined with his clinical expertise, allows him to provide compassionate, personalised care tailored specifically to the veteran community.
Many veterans experience musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain, reduced mobility, deconditioning, or ongoing physical challenges related to their service. Having a clinician who understands military culture and the realities of service life can make a significant difference in creating a comfortable and supportive rehabilitation environment.
At Hunter Rehab Hub, we strive to create a space where veterans feel understood, respected, and empowered.
What's Included in the DVA Wellness Program?
Our comprehensive program combines evidence-based physiotherapy with recovery and wellness services to provide a holistic approach to rehabilitation and long-term health.
1. Personalised Physiotherapy Support
Every veteran receives individualised care tailored to their unique goals, injuries, and health needs. Our experienced physiotherapists work closely with you to create a treatment plan that supports your recovery and long-term wellbeing.
2. Exercise-Based Rehabilitation
Movement is medicine. Our exercise rehabilitation programs are designed to improve strength, mobility, balance, endurance, and confidence in everyday activities.
3. Gym Membership
Participants in the program receive access to our gym facilities, including military-style functional fitness training designed to improve real-world strength, conditioning, mobility, and resilience. These sessions focus on practical movement patterns and performance-based training in a supportive environment that many veterans find both familiar and motivating.
4. Recovery Services
Recovery is an essential part of rehabilitation. Veterans in our wellness program can access:
- Massage therapy
- Cold therapy (ice baths)
- Infrared sauna
These services can assist with muscle recovery, circulation, relaxation, and pain management.
5. MLS Laser Therapy
We also offer access to MLS laser therapy; a non‑invasive, pain‑free treatment modality that uses synchronised light wavelengths to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. Unlike traditional handheld laser devices, MLS technology emits two wavelengths of light simultaneously — one continuous and one pulsed — that penetrate deep into tissues to influence cells at a biochemical level. This dual‑wave system is designed to:
- Reduce inflammation
- Relieve pain
- Accelerate tissue repair and healing
How Do I Access the Program?
Getting started is simple:
